MEMORY COVE, PORT LINCOLN, SA
☆ Memory Cove Camping ☆
Memory Cove is location in the Memory Cove Wilderness Protection Area - an extension of the Port Lincoln National Park, and it's a beautiful secluded spot. Plus, it's a bit exclusive - you need to grab a key from the tourist office in Port Lincoln, South Australia in order to access the cove and there is only 5 camping spots available. Because it's limited numbers you do pay a little more for the privilege - $20/night for a campsite + a one off vehicle entry fee of $11 + you'll need to leave a refundable $50 deposit for the key.
But it is beautiful - clear calm waters, white sand, and some friendly locals (pelicans, kangaroos and the occasional snake). It has drop toilets and you'll find bins on your way out of the national park at the entrance.
The Cove is 4wd only access - it's only about 50km from Port Lincoln but took us a good hour and a half. The road is a bit rough and potholed, with some steep hills, but nothing difficult, just slow going. Once you get there you'll have no phone reception so you can just relax & enjoy the serenity 👍
