THE AQUARIUM, POINT QUOBBA, WA
The BEST snorkelling we've ever done?
Seriously, put this snorkelling spot on your lists. About 45 minutes north west of Carnarvon, Western Australia you'll find the Quobba Blowholes. They're pretty cool themselves but if you keep driving around to the left you'll find a campsite + a day use area. And just off the beach you'll find what they call The Aquarium.
Do yourselves a favour, stop here, chuck your snorkel mask on & jump in. It's not called The Aquarium for nothing - I've seriously never seen so many fish in one place in my life. Plus it's sheltered and easy to access making it a great first snorkelling location for The Kid.
As well as about 4000 fish we spotted huge starfish, giant clams, tons of amazing coral, a big stingray, and even a lion fish. Plus we heard from other families about turtles, eels & octopus (check out the cool video of an eel and an Octopus from Rhythm of our Tribe) that unfortunately didn't show up for us.
You can camp here too - $11 per adult, per night. Limited facilities (& very busy) but there is a toilet, rubbish bins and a dump point. And of course if you camp there you get to swim in this awesome spot every day
