AROHA ISLAND, KERIKERI
The Aroha Island Eco Centre & Holiday Accommodation. almost feels like one of those amazing hidden gems that we shouldn't post about on social media.
But they need visitor dollars as much as the next place, and it was such a gorgeous spot we decided to share it after all.
Our campsite was right on the water, under the shade of a Pohutukawa tree, with clear open starry skies, and I spotted not one but THREE wild Kiwi in the surrounding bushland (yay!! All those hours traipsing around in the dark finally paid off!)
There were trees to climb, kids to play with, a family of ducks visited us regularly, and our neighbour gave us freshly caught Snapper every day (& even took Ryan out Kayak Fishing with her!)
