Look I know it's a big call but this magic spot has to be up there on the list as one of our all time faves!
Lucky Bay can be found south of Kalbarri in Western Australia (not to be confused with it's more popular cousin further south near Esperance).
It's a council run spot that'll set you back $15 per night per vehicle. And while the spots we camped at are clearly 4x4 only, there is a 2wd accessible campsite back behind the dunes that has toilets, picnic areas, bins, and even a dump point. So if you're travelling with a caravan you can set up camp then head in & explore the dunes on a day trip.
If you are going to camp past the 2wd area on the beach or dunes then you need to be self sufficient as there are no facilities, and local law mandates you must have your own chemical toilet. A yes, it's dog friendly.
There's a beautiful sheltered area for swimming/snorkelling/kayaking, gorgeous clear starry skies, and of course you can chuck a line in (& hopefully catch more than we did). It's also a popular spot for spear fishing so Ryan loved watching people come up the beach with their catches, speargun in hand.
Seriously magic spot 🖒
